Andrew Zhao currently works as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the USS Ronald Reagan, homeported in Yokosuka Japan. He is the Electrical Division Officer and is learning to get qualified to stand as Officer of the Deck. Andrew Zhao also holds a BS in Computer Science from the US Naval Academy.

Kapil Kanagal, MS '18

Kapil currently works as an investment analyst at Paua Ventures in Berlin, Germany. Starting August 2018, Kapil will join Millennium Management in New York as a hedge fund analyst focusing on macro derivatives trading.

During his time at Stanford, he was Chief Investment Officer of the Stanford Kudla Fund, a $1 million student-run hedge fund. He maintains close ties with Stanford alumni in the area and DJs in his spare time.

Kapil studied Computer Science at Stanford prior MS&E and interned at Salesforce and Wells Fargo as a Software Engineer.

Paulo Dutra currently works in Portfolio Management at In-Q-Tel.

In-Q-Tel is a strategic investor and non-profit corporation that supports the US Intelligence Community by helping them pilot and adopt startups' technology and products.

During his time at Stanford, served as an Air Force Captain and Special Agent for the Office of Special Investigations. Specializing in cyber-security investigations and operations. Paulo was also assigned to the F.B.I.'s Washington Field Office as an F.B.I. Cyber Task Force Officer. Paulo holds a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies from the US Air Force Academy.


June Lee, PhD '18

Assistant Professor June Y. Lee specializes in entrepreneurship and innovation in emerging economies. Lee earned her PhD from Stanford University. Her dissertation, titled Business Groups and Internationalization, explored how business groups from emerging economies internationalize to developing and developed countries with different strategic motives and their performance implications. She is a member of the Academy of International Business and Academy of Management.


Sofia Shepard, MS '17

Title: Engineering Rotational Program - Operations
Company: Axon

Sofia Shepard is fulfilling a rotational program at Axon, working in the Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales Operations departments. In this role, she serves as a project manager, driving new Lean process improvements using data analysis and cross-functional collaboration.

Sofia worked with Axon on a course project for MS&E 280 in Winter 2016, which led to a fulfilling internship in supply chain and manufacturing Summer 2016. Sofia also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Spanish from the University of Florida.

Company: VMWare

Ari is a Product Marketing Manager at VMware. Ari is responsible for driving adoption of VMware technology in the Cloud Provider market.

At Stanford, Ari was a DFJ Entrepreneurial Leaders Fellow. Ari trains in calisthenics, leads a non-profit foundation for senior care and listens to progressive metal. Ari was also a business development Intern at Nutanix, Inc. He also interned as a product manager at Juniper Networks.


Jordan Shapiro, MS '16

Jordan Shapiro is currently a member of the inaugural class of Schwarzman Scholars, where he studies human enhancement and entrepreneurship. Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars offers students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

During his time at Stanford, he worked at Samsung SmartThings as a Product Manager for an Internet of Things products. Jordan also holds a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from Stanford.


Jonathan Lu, BS '16

Jonathan is currently a Product and Growth Analyst at Handshake. He manages student product, growth and marketing, driving user engagement among Handshake's 1.5 million students across over 110 universities (including Stanford).

Previously, Jonathan was an analyst intern at Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, helping to build the firm's university strategy. He's also interned as a product manager at Apple and a monetization strategist at WeChat, China's fastest growing messenger platform.


Sophia Salim, MS '16

Company: Ropazi

Sophia Salim is the co-founder and CEO of her mission-driven software startup called Ropazi. Ropazi is changing the way moms shop on their mobiles by using a highly personalized approach to selling kids clothing, a $60 B US opportunity. Consumers engage with Ropazi's personal shoppers via text messaging. Ropazi is also a recent StartX graduate.

Sophia completed her undergrad in Computer Science from Pakistan and was hired directly by Microsoft from Pakistan to work as a Software Engineer for their headquarters in Redmond, USA, as part of the VB/C# Compiler teams. Subsequently she worked for Microsoft's Silicon Valley office as a Software Engineer in the GPU Virtualization team. 


Maxime Aymonod, MS '16

Maxime Aymonod currently works as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company in the San Francisco office. He works across industries to help clients solve their most important challenges.

During his time at Stanford, he interned at Invoice2go - a fintech venture-backed startup. Maxime also holds a MS in Engineering from Telecom ParisTech. He previously interned at Invoice2go with Customer Insights and EY as a Summer Business Analyst.
